And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction. {Ephraim: that is, Fruitful}
Blessed {is} the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. {ungodly: or, wicked}
Thy wife {shall be} as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.
And the sons of Joseph, which were born him in Egypt, {were} two souls: all the souls of the house of Jacob, which came into Egypt, {were} threescore and ten.

And of Joseph he said, Blessed of the LORD {be} his land, for the precious things of heaven, for the dew, and for the deep that coucheth beneath,
The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth. {grow: Heb. as fishes do increase}
And it came to pass after these things, that {one} told Joseph, Behold, thy father {is} sick: and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.
And she had strong rods for the sceptres of them that bare rule, and her stature was exalted among the thick branches, and she appeared in her height with the multitude of her branches.
And his father refused, and said, I know {it}, my son, I know {it}: he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations. {multitude: Heb. fulness}

Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times {the things} that are not {yet} done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
And of Joseph he said, Blessed of the LORD {be} his land, for the precious things of heaven, for the dew, and for the deep that coucheth beneath,
Though he be fruitful among {his} brethren, an east wind shall come, the wind of the LORD shall come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall spoil the treasure of all pleasant vessels. {pleasant...: Heb. vessels of desire}
That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments: but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph. {wine...: or, in bowls of wine} {affliction: Heb. breach}
For the LORD hath turned away the excellency of Jacob, as the excellency of Israel: for the emptiers have emptied them out, and marred their vine branches. {the excellency of Jacob...: or, the pride of Jacob as the pride, etc}

Of the children of Joseph, {namely}, of the children of Ephraim, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

{As for} Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird, from the birth, and from the womb, and from the conception.
