They said moreover unto Pharaoh, For to sojourn in the land are we come; for thy servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the famine {is} sore in the land of Canaan: now therefore, we pray thee, let thy servants dwell in the land of Goshen.

That ye shall say, Thy servants' trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, {and} also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd {is} an abomination unto the Egyptians.
And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land {that is} not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
And thou shalt speak and say before the LORD thy God, A Syrian ready to perish {was} my father, and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there with a few, and became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous:
And the famine {was} sore in the land.
Now there came a dearth over all the land of Egypt and Chanaan, and great affliction: and our fathers found no sustenance.
Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.
And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine {was} grievous in the land.
For thus saith the Lord GOD, My people went down aforetime into Egypt to sojourn there; and the Assyrian oppressed them without cause.
And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat {them} evil four hundred years.
The land of Egypt {is} before thee; in the best of the land make thy father and brethren to dwell; in the land of Goshen let them dwell: and if thou knowest {any} men of activity among them, then make them rulers over my cattle.
Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle: and when they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, that, behold, the place {was} a place for cattle;
Then spake Elisha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for the LORD hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.
