Now, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, {even} upon Egypt, on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so {is} Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him. {trustest: Heb. trustest thee}
Lo, thou trustest in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so {is} Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him.
And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I {am} against thee, O Zidon; and I will be glorified in the midst of thee: and they shall know that I {am} the LORD, when I shall have executed judgments in her, and shall be sanctified in her.
As for us, our eyes as yet failed for our vain help: in our watching we have watched for a nation {that} could not save {us}.
And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.
Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because {they are} many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!
For I will at this time send all my plagues upon thine heart, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people; that thou mayest know that {there is} none like me in all the earth.
Why gaddest thou about so much to change thy way? thou also shalt be ashamed of Egypt, as thou wast ashamed of Assyria.
And the Egyptians shall know that I {am} the LORD, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
And they shall dwell safely therein, and shall build houses, and plant vineyards; yea, they shall dwell with confidence, when I have executed judgments upon all those that despise them round about them; and they shall know that I {am} the LORD their God. {safely: or, with confidence} {despise: or, spoil}
That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!
Thus saith the LORD; Cursed {be} the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.

Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble {is like} a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.
Therefore all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that spoil thee shall be a spoil, and all that prey upon thee will I give for a prey.
Neither shall Pharaoh with {his} mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons:
And it shall be no more the confidence of the house of Israel, which bringeth {their} iniquity to remembrance, when they shall look after them: but they shall know that I {am} the Lord GOD.
And they shall know that I {am} the LORD, when I have set a fire in Egypt, and {when} all her helpers shall be destroyed. {destroyed: Heb. broken}
Yet he also {is} wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity. {call...: Heb. remove}

And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.
Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Thus shall ye say to the king of Judah, that sent you unto me to enquire of me; Behold, Pharaoh's army, which is come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own land.
