Son of man, what {is} that proverb {that} ye have in the land of Israel, saying, The days are prolonged, and every vision faileth?
Son of man, behold, {they of} the house of Israel say, The vision that he seeth {is} for many days {to come}, and he prophesieth of the times {that are} far off.
That say, Let him make speed, {and} hasten his work, that we may see {it}: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know {it}!
And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as {they were} from the beginning of the creation.
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.
The morning is come unto thee, O thou that dwellest in the land: the time is come, the day of trouble {is} near, and not the sounding again of the mountains. {sounding...: or, echo}
And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set {it} on, and also pour water into it:
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Your slain whom ye have laid in the midst of it, they {are} the flesh, and this {city is} the caldron: but I will bring you forth out of the midst of it.
That chant to the sound of the viol, {and} invent to themselves instruments of musick, like David; {chant: or, quaver}
This {city} shall not be your caldron, neither shall ye be the flesh in the midst thereof; {but} I will judge you in the border of Israel:

And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set {it} on, and also pour water into it:
Who also eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them; and they break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the caldron.
And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as {they were} from the beginning of the creation.
And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a seething pot; and the face thereof {is} toward the north. {toward...: Heb. from the face of the north}
And it shall be unto them as a false divination in their sight, to them that have sworn oaths: but he will call to remembrance the iniquity, that they may be taken. {to them...: or, for the oaths made unto them}
Lest {when} thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt {therein};
