Then spake Solomon, The LORD said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.
Clouds and darkness {are} round about him: righteousness and judgment {are} the habitation of his throne. {habitation: or, establishment}
He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness {was} under his feet.
Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom {be} honour and power everlasting. Amen.
Then said Solomon, The LORD hath said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.
At the brightness {that was} before him his thick clouds passed, hail {stones} and coals of fire.
Who coverest {thyself} with light as {with} a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:
And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that {was} in the camp trembled.
(I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to shew you the word of the LORD: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying,
These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.
Then spake Solomon, The LORD said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.
Then said Solomon, The LORD hath said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.
Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light {are} both alike {to thee}. {hideth...: Heb. darkeneth not} {the darkness and...: Heb. as is the darkness, so is the light}

And the LORD said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD.
He holdeth back the face of his throne, {and} spreadeth his cloud upon it.
He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.
A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, {even} to the years of many generations. {of many...: Heb. of generation and generation}
And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel;
And he said unto Moses, Come up unto the LORD, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and worship ye afar off.
And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days:
And Moses alone shall come near the LORD: but they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people go up with him.
