For the LORD thy God {is} a consuming fire, {even} a jealous God.

For our God {is} a consuming fire.
Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him. {abide: Heb. stand up}
Understand therefore this day, that the LORD thy God {is} he which goeth over before thee; {as} a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the LORD hath said unto thee.
And the sight of the glory of the LORD {was} like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel.
The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?
For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name {is} Jealous, {is} a jealous God:
(For the LORD thy God {is} a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.
Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God {am} a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth {generation} of them that hate me;
Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the LORD, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination {is} to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, {even} all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.
Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD'S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.
I {am} the LORD: that {is} my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven.
Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.

They have moved me to jealousy with {that which is} not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with {those which are} not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.
For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.

And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.
And he put forth the form of an hand, and took me by a lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looketh toward the north; where {was} the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh to jealousy.
And Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they had committed, above all that their fathers had done.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Surely in the fire of my jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the heathen, and against all Idumea, which have appointed my land into their possession with the joy of all {their} heart, with despiteful minds, to cast it out for a prey.

Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy. {for...: Heb. with my zeal}
Seek the LORD, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour {it}, and {there be} none to quench {it} in Bethel.
And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael, all {their} days.
Did {ever} people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live?
Yea, I will gather you, and blow upon you in the fire of my wrath, and ye shall be melted in the midst thereof.
