And Samuel died; and all the Israelites were gathered together, and lamented him, and buried him in his house at Ramah. And David arose, and went down to the wilderness of Paran.
Now to the {one} half of the tribe of Manasseh Moses had given {possession} in Bashan: but unto the {other} half thereof gave Joshua among their brethren on this side Jordan westward. And when Joshua sent them away also unto their tents, then he blessed them,
{And} the people journeyed from Kibrothhattaavah unto Hazeroth; and abode at Hazeroth. {abode at: Heb. they were in}
And it came to pass, when all the kings which {were} on this side Jordan, in the hills, and in the valleys, and in all the coasts of the great sea over against Lebanon, the Hittite, and the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, heard {thereof};
And Moses by the commandment of the LORD sent them from the wilderness of Paran: all those men {were} heads of the children of Israel.
We will pass over armed before the LORD into the land of Canaan, that the possession of our inheritance on this side Jordan {may be} ours.
And they departed from Kibrothhattaavah, and encamped at Hazeroth.
For we will not inherit with them on yonder side Jordan, or forward; because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side Jordan eastward.
The two tribes and the half tribe have received their inheritance on this side Jordan {near} Jericho eastward, toward the sunrising.
Wherefore, said they, if we have found grace in thy sight, let this land be given unto thy servants for a possession, {and} bring us not over Jordan.
And the children of Israel took their journeys out of the wilderness of Sinai; and the cloud rested in the wilderness of Paran.
And he said, The LORD came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of saints: from his right hand {went} a fiery law for them. {a fiery...: Heb. a fire of law}
And afterward the people removed from Hazeroth, and pitched in the wilderness of Paran.
And now the LORD your God hath given rest unto your brethren, as he promised them: therefore now return ye, and get you unto your tents, {and} unto the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you on the other side Jordan.
Ye shall give three cities on this side Jordan, and three cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan, {which} shall be cities of refuge.
And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran: and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.
And all that he did to the two kings of the Amorites, that {were} beyond Jordan, to Sihon king of Heshbon, and to Og king of Bashan, which {was} at Ashtaroth.
And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and shewed them the fruit of the land.
God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise. {Teman: or, the south}
And they came to the threshingfloor of Atad, which {is} beyond Jordan, and there they mourned with a great and very sore lamentation: and he made a mourning for his father seven days.
And the children of Israel took their journeys out of the wilderness of Sinai; and the cloud rested in the wilderness of Paran.
That the waters which came down from above stood {and} rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that {is} beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, {even} the salt sea, failed, {and} were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho.
And they arose out of Midian, and came to Paran: and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt, unto Pharaoh king of Egypt; which gave him an house, and appointed him victuals, and gave him land.
And when we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, through the way of the plain from Elath, and from Eziongaber, we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.
And they removed from Libnah, and pitched at Rissah.
And Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die: but God shall be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers.
And it came to pass, when the king of Ai saw {it}, that they hasted and rose up early, and the men of the city went out against Israel to battle, he and all his people, at a time appointed, before the plain; but he wist not that {there were} liers in ambush against him behind the city.

And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them. {keep...: Heb. keep to do them}
