And he said unto them, These {are} the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and {in} the prophets, and {in} the psalms, concerning me.
Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord {is}.
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do {it} with thy might; for {there is} no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth {it}; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth {it} not, then cometh the wicked {one}, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:
When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.
Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that {by my voice} I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an {unknown} tongue.
But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:
Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord.
Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number {is} Six hundred threescore {and} six.

So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused {them} to understand the reading.

There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.
