And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all {thy} children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither. {down: Heb. round}
And David said unto Michal, {It was} before the LORD, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel: therefore will I play before the LORD.
He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds:

And Nathan said to David, Thou {art} the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;
Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured {it} upon his head, and kissed him, and said, {Is it} not because the LORD hath anointed thee {to be} captain over his inheritance?
To morrow about this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, and thou shalt anoint him {to be} captain over my people Israel, that he may save my people out of the hand of the Philistines: for I have looked upon my people, because their cry is come unto me.
He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, {and} lifteth the needy out of the dunghill;

For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel. {as...: Heb. from behind}
And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as {it is} this day. {mercy: or, bounty}
The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.
Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, {even} the sure mercies of David.
And Nathan said to David, Thou {art} the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;
Howbeit the LORD God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel for ever: for he hath chosen Judah {to be} the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked me to make {me} king over all Israel:
Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.
With whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him.
And the woman said, Wherefore then hast thou thought such a thing against the people of God? for the king doth speak this thing as one which is faulty, in that the king doth not fetch home again his banished.

And David said unto God, {Is it} not I {that} commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but {as for} these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my father's house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.
And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.
Storehouses also for the increase of corn, and wine, and oil; and stalls for all manner of beasts, and cotes for flocks.
His glory {is} great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him.

Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I have laid help upon {one that is} mighty; I have exalted {one} chosen out of the people.
And that bringeth me forth from mine enemies: thou also hast lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.
And David perceived that the LORD had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.
Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great {men}: {Put...: Heb. Set not out thy glory}
