Now the sons of Saul were Jonathan, and Ishui, and Melchishua: and the names of his two daughters {were these}; the name of the firstborn Merab, and the name of the younger Michal:

Then David returned to bless his household. And he said, Well; I will make a league with thee: but one thing I require of thee, that is, Thou shalt not see my face, except thou first bring Michal Saul's daughter, when thou comest to see my face. {that is: Heb. saying}
But Saul had given Michal his daughter, David's wife, to Phalti the son of Laish, which {was} of Gallim. {Phalti: also called, Phaltiel}
And the women answered {one another} as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.
