And thou shalt go down before me to Gilgal; and, behold, I will come down unto thee, to offer burnt offerings, {and} to sacrifice sacrifices of peace offerings: seven days shalt thou tarry, till I come to thee, and shew thee what thou shalt do.
And Samuel called the people together unto the LORD to Mizpeh;
And they sacrificed sacrifices unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings unto the LORD, on the morrow after that day, {even} a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, {and} a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel:
Now therefore behold the king whom ye have chosen, {and} whom ye have desired! and, behold, the LORD hath set a king over you.
Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us;
{Is it} not wheat harvest to day? I will call unto the LORD, and he shall send thunder and rain; that ye may perceive and see that your wickedness {is} great, which ye have done in the sight of the LORD, in asking you a king.
And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto the LORD.
But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
I will be thy king: where {is any other} that may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes? {I will...: rather, Where is thy king?}
Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and captain over them: and Jephthah uttered all his words before the LORD in Mizpeh.
And afterward they desired a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, by the space of forty years.

So Saul died, and his three sons, and his armourbearer, and all his men, that same day together.

Look even out the best and meetest of your master's sons, and set {him} on his father's throne, and fight for your master's house.
And the people of the land slew all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.
Therefore came all the elders of Israel to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the LORD; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the LORD by Samuel. {by: Heb. by the hand of}
And his return {was} to Ramah; for there {was} his house; and there he judged Israel; and there he built an altar unto the LORD.
