Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner {stone}, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
Wherefore? Because {they sought it} not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
To whom coming, {as unto} a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, {and} precious,
And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner {stone};
Out of him came forth the corner, out of him the nail, out of him the battle bow, out of him every oppressor together.
For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:
For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, {in whom} my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
All scripture {is} given by inspiration of God, and {is} profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.
They shall be ashamed, and also confounded, all of them: they shall go to confusion together {that are} makers of idols.
And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided {him}, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.

Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope.

In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.
This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish {from} the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed {are} all they that put their trust in him.
They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.
O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.
How excellent {is} thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. {excellent: Heb. precious}
{He is} the Rock, his work {is} perfect: for all his ways {are} judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right {is} he.

And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
But if they will not obey, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation, saith the LORD.
His mouth {is} most sweet: yea, he {is} altogether lovely. This {is} my beloved, and this {is} my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem. {mouth: Heb. palate}
Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which {is} Zion. {chief: Heb. princes}
And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, {and} hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house.
And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
