Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.
And king Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel, that were assembled unto him, {were} with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen, that could not be told nor numbered for multitude.
And all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto king Solomon at the feast in the month Ethanim, which {is} the seventh month.
And on the fifteenth day of the seventh month ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work, and ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days:
In their setting of their threshold by my thresholds, and their post by my posts, and the wall between me and them, they have even defiled my holy name by their abominations that they have committed: wherefore I have consumed them in mine anger. {and the...: or, for there was but a wall between me and them}
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with {their} lips; but their heart is far from me.
And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the LORD unto Bethel: and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense. {burn: or, offer}
But prophesy not again any more at Bethel: for it {is} the king's chapel, and it {is} the king's court. {chapel: or, sanctuary} {king's court: Heb. house of the kingdom}
Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
