Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel, (for he {was} the firstborn; but, forasmuch as he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given unto the sons of Joseph the son of Israel: and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright.

And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father's concubine: and Israel heard {it}. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve:
And Leah conceived, and bare a son, and she called his name Reuben: for she said, Surely the LORD hath looked upon my affliction; now therefore my husband will love me. {Reuben: that is, See a son}
And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God which fed me all my life long unto this day,
Reuben, thou {art} my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:
These {be} the heads of their fathers' houses: The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel; Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi: these {be} the families of Reuben.
Also Hosah, of the children of Merari, had sons; Simri the chief, (for {though} he was not the firstborn, yet his father made him the chief;)
And these {are} the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons: Reuben, Jacob's firstborn.
And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD'S anointed {is} before him. {Eliab: called Elihu}
Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took {men}:
Cursed {be} he that lieth with his father's wife; because he uncovereth his father's skirt. And all the people shall say, Amen.
These {are} the sons of Israel; Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun, {Israel: or, Jacob}
It is reported commonly {that there is} fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.
Reuben, the eldest son of Israel: the children of Reuben; Hanoch, {of whom cometh} the family of the Hanochites: of Pallu, the family of the Palluites:
And the LORD said unto her, Two nations {are} in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and {the one} people shall be stronger than {the other} people; and the elder shall serve the younger.
And these {are} the names of the men that shall stand with you: of {the tribe of} Reuben; Elizur the son of Shedeur.
Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that the LORD said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Kadeshbarnea.
But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated {for} the firstborn, by giving him a double portion of all that he hath: for he {is} the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn {is} his. {that...: Heb. that is found with him}
The nakedness of thy father's wife shalt thou not uncover: it {is} thy father's nakedness.
And the man that lieth with his father's wife hath uncovered his father's nakedness: both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood {shall be} upon them.

And now thy two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, which were born unto thee in the land of Egypt before I came unto thee into Egypt, {are} mine; as Reuben and Simeon, they shall be mine.
His glory {is like} the firstling of his bullock, and his horns {are like} the horns of unicorns: with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they {are} the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they {are} the thousands of Manasseh. {unicorns: Heb. an unicorn}

For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim: therefore they gave no part unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell {in}, with their suburbs for their cattle and for their substance.

And the children of Reuben, Israel's eldest son, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
On the south side {shall be} the standard of the camp of Reuben according to their armies: and the captain of the children of Reuben {shall be} Elizur the son of Shedeur.
Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took {men}:

And on the other side of Jordan, of the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and of the half tribe of Manasseh, with all manner of instruments of war for the battle, an hundred and twenty thousand.

And Rehoboam made Abijah the son of Maachah the chief, {to be} ruler among his brethren: for {he thought} to make him king.
In thee have they discovered their fathers' nakedness: in thee have they humbled her that was set apart for pollution.
Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;
